With roots in the Free Arts Movement here in Atlanta, Hold It Down ATL has been producing art since July 2015. The logo was designed 6 years ago for a friendly competition to represent the city. After stumbling across #FAFATL (Free Art Friday Atlanta) on instagram there was finally a bigger purpose for it: creating unique pieces to hide around the city for people to find and claim. These pieces started out as little wooden magnets of the Hold It Down logo. Over the past 10 months the work has evolved from those original magnets to now having an arsenal of stickers, bottle caps, t-shirts, magnets and wall pieces. Hold It Down's next goal is to put a mural up somewhere in the city by the end of the year.
Seeing people post excited messages about claiming Hold It Down pieces not only gives a great sense of pride in creating work people love, but also fulfills a passion in creating unique art that represents the love for ATL. Keep holdin' it down y’all!
